Saanen Airport sits closest to Gstaad and offers direct access to the village. It is also among the most demanding airports in the region.
Aircraft. The runway is short and surrounded by mountains, so only certain light and midsize jets can land safely. Crews need specific training for the approach.
Operating conditions. Flights are limited to daylight hours under visual flight conditions, so poor weather or a late departure can quickly affect plans.
Parking. Parking is scarce and must be arranged well in advance during the ski season.
