Operational Challenges
Flying into St. Moritz means arriving at Samedan, Europe’s highest-altitude airport at over 5,600 feet. Its short runway, mountain surroundings, and lack of instrument landing systems make it one of the most challenging airports in the world.
Unlike major hubs, Samedan only allows daylight operations under visual conditions, meaning flights can only take place from sunrise to sunset, and clear weather is essential. Parking is also limited, and only specially trained crews are approved to operate here.
That’s where Pickajet’s expertise matters. We work exclusively with operators who are qualified for these demanding approaches, secure scarce parking in advance, and monitor weather closely to plan alternates.
